Color Ideas just got easier thanks to Kuler by Adobe
Doing graphic design work, painting your house, or learning art or photography – understanding color theory and how colors compliment each other does not come easily to all people. Hopefully this post can offer some help.Whether you are looking for a color scheme or planning your wedding, this is a wedding website after-all, we hope these colour palettes can offer some assistance. Granted, we could do a thousand of these, but hopefully there are enough ideas here to get you started. There are truly in infinite number of possible color combinations, but it doesn’t have to be that daunting. One of my favorite ways to deal with color combinations is using a reference image – like the first few images below.
We’ll start with using reference images for inspiration. The first one if of Jamie and I at our wedding. Now, we came up with our wedding color scheme before this picture was taken obviously, but the idea still stands. With Adobe Kuler, making these types of color schemes is effortless – the web based application does all the work for you. You can simply upload an image and Kuler will dissect the image and create a color combination based on science. Or, you can push and pull on the color wheel to achieve a specific set of colors to fit any project. If you don’t think color is a science, you are mistaken; you can see evidence of it all over. There is a reason every fast food restaurant uses warm colors like Red, Yellow, and Orange. McDonalds, Wendy’s, Burger King, Rally’s, Hardees, Pizza Hut, Arby’s and the list goes on. Warm colors make people hungry. Cool colors are relaxing. At the end of the day however, we all have our personal tastes regarding color. It’s important to know what colors compliment the colors we love so that we can make our favorites pop or stand out.
